Mgr Gerry Ewing
Mgr Gerry Ewing
Gerry attended St John's Seminary, Wonersh and was ordained priest in 1981. He served as Assistant Priest in Abbey Wood & Thamesmead and also Gravesend, before spending five years as full-time Chaplain at St Francis Xavier Sixth Form College, Clapham. He was then appointed to his current position as Parish Priest at Wandsworth - West Hill. He has a Bachelor of Theology Degree and MAs in Theology & Education from King's - London and Canon Law from Heythrop. As Director of Ongoing Formation, he oversees the work of the OGF Committee, and also has some responsibility for In-Service Training.
Fr David Gibbons
Fr David Gibbons
David was previously a Church of England clergyman. After being Received into Full Communion with the Catholic Church, he was ordained a Catholic priest in 1996 by Archbishop Michael Bowen. After 6½ years as Assistant Priest in Maidstone, he was Parish Priest of Camberwell from 2000 to 2011. He has degrees in Classics from Durham University (BA) and in Theology from Oxford University (MA), as well as Post-graduate Certificates in Education and in Theology. Since June 2011 he has been Director of the Diocesan Centre for Catholic Formation.
Ms Kathy Robinson
Ms Kathy Robinson
Kathy has worked in Catholic Education in the Diocese for almost forty years. Twenty years spent at Notre Dame in Southwark, and then at St Francis Xavier Sixth Form College as Vice Principal and Marketing & Admissions Manager, until her retirement. She is now involved in the provision of In-Service Training and is also a member of the OGF Standing Committee.
Ms Margaret Philpot
Ms Margaret Philpot
Margaret studied for a BA in Modern Languages and an MA in Linguistics at London University. She also has a diploma in counselling/psychotherapy - having completed three years training at the Psychosynthesis and Education Trust. She spent many years in the secondary, tertiary and distance learning sectors of the British education system, and for several years has led adult human development groups. She is currently the OGF Committee member responsible for Personal Support.
Fr Addison Okpeh MSP
Fr Addison Okpeh MSP
Addison is a priest of the Missionary Society of St Paul (MSP). He trained for the priesthood in the Society's Seminary in Nigeria and was ordained in 1994. He worked in the Archdioceses of Abuja and Lagos before coming to Southwark in 2000. He was Assistant Priest in the Cathedral, and is now Parish Priest of St Gertrude's - South Bermondsey. He is a trained Psychotherapist, and has received training in Leadership and Human Development, and is responsible for the Professional Development of priests.
Fr Shaju Varkey
Fr Shaju Varkey
Shaju was born in India. After studies in Chemistry, Philosophy and social science in India, he worked as a teacher and a social worker before he began formation for the priesthood at St John's Seminary, Wonersh. He was ordained in 2008. He is now Assistant Priest at St Peter’s Parish in Woolwich. He is the Committee Member – together with Fr Tom Creagh-Fuller - responsible for Recently Ordained/Arrived Priests and has responsibility for Support Groups.
Fr Tom Creagh-Fuller
Fr Tom Creagh-Fuller
Tom studied Theology at Heythrop and for the Diaconate at St John's - Wonersh having previously had a career as a musician and a lecturer. After serving as a deacon for some years, he went to the English College, Rome, to train for the priesthood, studying at the Gregorian University. He now serves as Parish Priest in Forest Hill. Tom is one of the two members of the OGF Committee with responsibility for Recently Ordained/Arrived Priests.
Fr Jim Nolan
Fr Jim Nolan
Jim was born in 1938. He was ordained at St Kieran's Seminary in Kilkenny for the Southwark Archdiocese in 1962. He has served in Streatham Hill, Lewisham and the Cathedral as Assistant Priest, and in Anerley as Parish Priest from 1979-2007. Since retiring in September 2007 he has been supplying for local parishes. He was appointed Episcopal Vicar for Retired Clergy in December 2007, and serves on the OGF Committee in this capacity.
Fr Adrian McKenna-Whyte
Fr Adrian McKenna-Whyte
Adrian has worked in both rural and suburban parts of the diocese and is Parish Priest of Streatham Hill. Prior to being ordained, Fr. Adrian spent 12 years in NHS care management and has a Master’s degree in Health and Social Welfare studies. In bridging parish and community issues, Fr. Adrian serves as a Chaplain to the local police team and is a member of the Metropolitan Police’s Local Authority Ward Panel. Further-afield from local needs, Fr. Adrian is a member of the Board of Directors of London Catalyst (formerly the Metropolitan Hospital Sunday Fund) which is a Greater-London-wide grant making charity that supports the spiritual, health and social welfare needs of Londoners to improve the health and well-being of people most in need. Drawing such work together, Fr. Adrian maintains that the spiritual, health and social welfare needs of the clergy are paramount and has joined the team to help with the Retreats and Spiritual Support work of the OGF committee.
Sr Sheila Moloney DMJ
Sr Sheila Moloney DMJ
Sheila is a Daughter of Mary and Joseph. She spent many years teaching in Coloma School in Shirley, and now is part of the Chaplaincy Team in Mayday Hospital - Croydon. She is a Vicar for Religious in the Diocese, and assists with Retreats and Spiritual Support on the OGF team.
Fr Philip Glandfield
Fr Philip Glandfield
Philip was ordained in 2003, after formation at St John's Seminary, Wonersh, having previously qualified as an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. His first appointment was as Assistant Priest at St Joseph's - New Malden, then to St Bartholomew's - Norbury in 2006. In 2009, he was appointed Private Secretary to the Archbishop of Southwark, and remains as a member of the OGF Committee.
Mrs Anita Rebello
Mrs Anita Rebello
Anita completed her schooling and secretarial qualifications in Tanzania and has forty years experience of working as a PA/Office Manager at senior executive level. She is voluntarily active in social and Church committees, and is a catechist in her parish. As the Southwark OGF Secretary, she provides part-time administrative support to the Committee, manages In-Service Training bookings from the clergy, and oversees the OGF website.
