Archdiocese of Southwark, On-Going Formation of Priests -

This Directory contains the names and contact details of people who have offered their services as supervisors, counsellors and psychotherapists. Those included have been chosen for their qualifications and/or extensive experience in their field of work. Supervision exists to provide professional support for people in all walks of life who spend much of their time helping others. Priests can often feel over-burdened, and even unsure of their role in an ever-changing world. It can be beneficial for them to share the load, or perhaps clarify their thoughts and motivation, with a person trained to understand such difficulties - in an atmosphere of total confidentiality. Many people who wish to improve the quality of their lives, or who wish to relate to others more effectively, are today seeking counselling or psychotherapy for difficulties such as stress, depression, and loneliness. There is every reason why the clergy, at whatever stage of their ministry, should also be able to seek this help when it is needed. If you would like to discuss possibilities further, or if you are looking for a recommendation, you may wish to contact Margaret Philpot.
